About MovieRamen

For everyone
who's ever
felt a film.

For everyone who has ever finished a film and immediately wanted to talk about it with someone.

The world makes extraordinary films.

Some people have a film they watched at the right moment in their life that changed something. A film that made them see a city differently, or understand a person they had never met, or feel something they did not have words for before. Most people have more than one of those films. And most people are nowhere near done finding them.

We are a film and television platform built around a simple idea: the world makes extraordinary films, and most of them deserve a much wider audience than they get. A Norwegian family drama. A Korean thriller. A Japanese animation from 1997. A Hollywood film from 1974 that somehow feels more relevant today than when it was made. A new Indian film that has not crossed language borders yet but absolutely should. All of it is here, and all of it gets the same genuine attention.

MovieRamen covers new releases, older films worth discovering, streaming guides, awards coverage, and the craft behind what makes great cinema great. We write about directors and actors and cinematographers and composers — because understanding who made something and why they made it the way they did changes how you experience it.

The goal is simple: whoever you are, wherever you are watching from, MovieRamen should help you find your next great film. And the one after that.

Five years in the making.

This is something I had been thinking about building for about five years before I actually started. I kept watching films — thousands of them, across every industry, every language, every era — and kept feeling the same thing: there was no single place that brought all of this together in a way that felt genuinely useful and genuinely human.

Not a database. Not a review aggregator. Something that felt like a conversation — the kind you have with a friend who watches everything and actually wants to help you find something you will love.

I finally started building it this year. It is early days and there is a lot still to come, but the vision is the same one I have had for five years: a home for curious film lovers, anywhere in the world, who want to watch more and understand more and feel more through cinema.

Films mean different things to different people. The same film can devastate one person and leave another cold, and both responses are completely valid. MovieRamen is not here to tell you what to think about a film. It is here to give you the information, the context, and the honest opinion that helps you decide whether to watch it — and to help you get more out of it when you do.

About Abhishek.

Abhishek Das

Founder, MovieRamen  ·  Marketer by profession, movie fanatic by heart

For the last eighteen years, I have averaged over 500 films and shows a year. I know how that sounds. But watching films is genuinely how I spend my time, how I think about storytelling, how I understand the world, and honestly how I relax.

I watch Hollywood across every genre. I watch Indian cinema across all five major industries. I watch Korean, Japanese, Iranian, French, Spanish, and Brazilian films with the same enthusiasm. I watch television series the way other people read novels — completely, obsessively, and always slightly sad when they end. I do not have a favourite country or genre. I have a weakness for anything that feels genuinely alive.

MovieRamen came out of a very personal frustration: I could not find one place that covered all of this with the same quality of attention and the same warmth across everything. So eventually I stopped waiting for someone else to build it.

I am glad you are here. I hope you find something on MovieRamen that you end up loving.

Honest. Human. Zero pretension.

We watch everything first.

We watch everything before we write about it. No exceptions, no shortcuts.

Honest opinions.

We give honest opinions even when they go against the crowd — and we explain our reasoning rather than just announcing a verdict.

Craft matters.

How a film is shot and cut and scored is as important to us as what it is about.

We stay human.

Films are not homework. We write about them the way you talk about them with someone you trust — with genuine enthusiasm and zero pretension. And when we get something wrong, we correct it and say so.
